The S.C. Pannell ‘Tempranillo Touriga’ has for many years now been one of Australia’s most successful ‘alternative variety’ wines, and the 2016 is another flawless release. Portuguese inspired yet quintessentially Australian, it represents Steve’s idea that wine should complement our climate and culture, not work against it. Amen to that. Steve called it “our most tannic and serious TT yet”, and whether you’re a lover of this wine or a Temp Touriga rookie, there is scarcely a better value red wine in McLaren Vale. Giddy up!
A more restrained and structural beast in 2016, but no less charismatic. The nose still carries the classic Tempranillo aromas of raspberries and dark cherries, with the Touriga adding extra layers of spice and floral highlights. The palate is plump and juicy as always, with waves of dark fruit flavours, a mixed bag of spices and perfect tannins. Simply lovely drinking.
